Many of you have seen and interacted with applications that include real time user interaction - the most well known example these days is arguably World of Warcraft, and until recently this functionality has been out of reach for projects with smaller budgets. With Adobe's recent release of AFCS however, the ability to share real time user activity between clients is now within easy reach. Don't believe me? Check out the Ford Mustang Community Customizer (http://www.fordvehicles.com/the2010mustang/ - link towards the bottom left).
This presentation will focus on providing an introduction to AFCS, first by using the custom components provided by Adobe, and then by building our own interactive component. By attending this presentation you will learn how to set up an AFCS project, how to share basic live data between clients, as well gain a basic understanding of the room and session provisioning process.
This will be presented by Michael Krotscheck. Michael Krotscheck is a Software Architect with an awful lot of qualifications that sound rather pretentious. He's worked on his share of projects, usually under the severe pressure not unheard of in the Agency world in which he plies his trade, and nevertheless has managed to enforce and encourage both solid development, testing and automation standards within his organization. He works regularly with FMIS, Flex, continuous integration tools such as Ant, Hudson, Jira and Crucible, and is far too often dragged from his beloved code to present to clients on the complexities of the RIA ecosystem.
These days he is employed at Resource Interactive, working on projects for clients such as Hewlett Packard, Victoria's Secret and Home Depot.
He also runs the Adobe User Group in Central Ohio, and is not-so-secretly trying to start his own company so that he can relocate to the Pacific Northwest without having to find a job long distance. He's got a neglected blog at http://www.krotscheck.net/, and spends his free time tinkering with bikes and convincing the world he deserves a spot on So You Think You Can Dance. |

Sep 10th Meeting: Debugging with the Experts |
|
Monday, 07 September 2009 12:05 |
|
For Septembers meeting, we'll do something a little different. We'll have the whole time devoted to questions and issues YOU have. Bring your laptop and some code if you've got a project you're working on. If you don't have a specific project, now is a good time to dive into that tutorial you've been dying to try. Thursday night will be the night that you'll have a handful of experts available to explain things and help you get to the root of issues you've had.
Food will be provided at this meeting, so bring an appetite! |
